The Town of Chicog held a meeting that discussed everything from road projects and highway maintenance issues to money market account balances. Please read below for details.

OCTOBER 9, 2013
The meeting was called to order at 7 P.M. by Chairmen Pat Wilcox. Town officers present: 5. The pledge of allegiance was recited. A motion by Bruce Johnston, 2nd by Steve Loiselle to dispense with the reading of the minutes, motion carried. Treasurer’s report – checking account balance as of 9/30/2013 $33,147.92 with outstanding checks of $9,593.83 leaving a balance of $23,544.09. Money market account balance as of 9/20/2013 $410,772.58 which includes interest of $296.33. Truck account balance as of 9/30/2013 $355.38 which includes interest of .18. Hwy. equipment maintenance account balance as of 9/30/2013 $30,642.42 which includes interest of $11.73. Tax account balance as of 9/30/2013 $282.92 which includes interest of .14. A motion by Steve Loiselle, 2nd by Bruce Johnston to approve, motion carried. Pat attended the Oct. 1, 2013 meeting for the LRIP. The town needs to address road projects for 2014. To submit a job description and file the application to Washburn County Hwy. commissioner by Nov. 1, 2013 for funding of approximately $11,800.
Road Projects – Flicker has been completed, one spot may have some settling to address. Christianson Road & Bramer roads have been chip sealed. Crack filling on Bluebird and Bald Eagle to start this month. Work begins on Bear Trail tomorrow. The road patching on Lower McKenzie is scheduled for Mon. the 14th weather permitting and cleaning of timber on Island Lake Road may start as early as tomorrow. Our snowplow is being readied for the winter season.
Correspondence – Peter Schau from Verizon sent an antenna site agreement for us to review. Basically stating the amount of space and at what height we can place antennas. I would like a verbal approval to the agreement upon approval of the town’s attorney. A motion by Steve Loiselle, 2nd by Bruce Johnston to approve, motion carried. Personal Concepts – several required updates on posters & Osha labor laws. The cost is $109.00 with shipping & 12 month updates at no charge.
Town attorney Jeff Kohler gave a presentation on the subject of highway maintenance as it falls on the town board. The town takes road maintenance seriously. John Johnson – town has the authority to set road limits, maintain & improve Roads. Steve – when we cut trees on ROW we get a lot of grief. Tall Pines a possible escape route. Public input – none.
Committee reports – ESG a meeting on Nov. 16, 2013. F. D. pancake breakfast 8 A.M. from 8 A.M. to 11 A.M. Hunters feed Nov. 23rd. Next meeting will be held on Wed. Nov. 13th at 7 P.M. A motion by Steve Loiselle, 2nd by Bruce Johnston to approve payment of bills, motion carried. A motion by Steve Loiselle, 2nd by Bruce Johnston to adjoun, meeting adjourned at 8:10 P.M.
