ZONING AND BUILDING PERMITS

Chicog Township is zoned. Zoning laws are enforced through Washburn County. If you plan on building in our township, visit the Zoning Office at the Washburn County courthouse in Shell Lake and make sure everything is in order. Also, keep in mind that building permits are required
in Chicog.

ROAD RIGHT-OF-WAYS

The town work crew is in the process of clearing trees and brush from the right-of-ways on township roads. Most town roads are 4 rod roads, which means that the right-of-way is 66 feet, or 33 feet from the center line in each direction. We realize that many people don’t like to see the trees cut down, but this clearing is necessary and 100% within our legal rights. Clearing of the right-of-ways not only makes the roads safer, but also makes them much easier to maintain. The logs are the property of the landowner, and we will gladly leave them at the property, but they must be stacked off the right-of-way. If you don’t want the logs, you can sign off on them and we will haul them away at our expense. Please, if you keep the logs, take care of them. Too often when we leave the logs piled up on the property, they sit there and rot. This is wasteful, but more importantly, it is an eyesore.

SALTING AND SANDING

The township will offer a salting and sanding service for driveways again this year. If you would like to take advantage of this service, contact Rose Lang or a board member. The fee is $25.00 for standard driveways, $35.00 for extra-long driveways, and $50.00 for commercial driveways. The fee is payable upon completion of the work.
